3 Healthy Kids Snacks...
3 Healthy Kids Snacks…
A fresh start.
A fresh start.
New Years… Start of the school year and so on.
But you know what? We say that’s complete nonsense.
Why wait for one of those to come around…
… when every MOMENT is an opportunity for a great start?
Literally every second. Yes, even this one. And this one, too.
So forget New Years resolutions or the like. How about New DAY resolutions?
What are your goals for TODAY?
More specifically, what are your goals as a parent today? What do you want to get out of your time with your child? How do you want today to go? Think about it. Because if you set just one or two simple, powerful goals every day you will see them come true before you know it.
If you want some help with the kid (or kids) – our martial arts program could be a great new start for them, too.
Kids have a ton of fun here, and learn important skills like discipline, focus & respect.

Stay SMART
Stay SMART
Setting goals is the first step to achieving what you want in life. People who don’t set goals are also going to achieve what they’ve set out to achieve – nothing!
Even if these people are hard working and intelligent, they are missing the most important step for success throughout their lives – setting goals. It may sound like I’m saying that all we have to do to set a goal is say “My goal is _____!” and that’s all there is to it. Don’t we wish that were true!
In order to make an impact, we must set goals in such a way that we can achieve them, and then work hard towards attaining them.
To make it easier to set goals, they should follow the SMART Guidelines:
S=Specific.
M=Measurable
A=Attainable
R=Realistic
T=Time (there must be a timeline)
Learning to set goals correctly, the SMART way, is going to make it a hundred times easier to stick with your goals and will give you the strength to change your behaviour for the better – and stick with it!
Following the SMART guidelines when you create your goals will increase your odds for success. Doing what it takes to reach your goals, day after day, and learning how to continue your new habits throughout your life is essential in building discipline.
Goal achievement is at the very core of every one of my children’s martial arts classes…

So your kid has a sweet tooth...
In this day and age, where diet & weight related problems are so common in kids…
… I thought you’d like to know of a little “trick” that satisfies a kid’s sweet tooth…
… while keeping them healthy.
After all, diabetes, and being overweight, are mostly due to refined sugar and simple carbs like white bread.
=======
So, here are TWO EASY CHANGES you can make to keep your kid healthy and sound.
=======
1. Agave nectar.
The agave plant is seriously a gift from nature. It’s super-sweet, but DOESN’T make your blood sugar go crazy like refined sugar does (this is the major cause of weight gain and diabetes).
You can cook with it… use it instead of syrup on pancakes and French toast…
… and even make cookies and such with it.
2. Stevia
The stevia plant is a no-calorie plant that also acts as a sugar substitute. It’s completely natural, and very healthy.
Like agave, it doesn’t impact your blood sugar levels either. And it’s not like Equal or Splenda – which are both processed and full of crazy chemicals.
=======
Many people completely replace sugar with these products.
Or, they use these products to greatly REDUCE the amount of sugar their families use.
=======
Hope you enjoyed this tip

Feedback from junior grading
We greatly appreciate the feedback received on the junior grading forms from students, parents and teachers. It helps us to ensure high standards in all aspects of our martial arts program.
As ever the students told us they enjoyed various punches, kicks and the games at the end of class. We were especially please to see students mentioning they had picked up the values and life skill from the classes such as: focus, confidence and respect. The students also felt that they had made friends with the others in the class. they also felt motivated by the awards achieved in class or received through the post.
We would like to share a few quotes from the parents:
“Great balance of strength and conditioning, values and martial arts skills. We have really enjoyed seeing his confidence levels increase”
“The encouragement given to the children is excellent and the discipline helps us parents”
“We feel well informed about events and the progress of our daughter”
“It improves his concentration and his will power to try his best at everything he does. We are very proud of how he has grown from his classes to the young man he is becoming.”
Several parents requested information on the forms and assistance with practicing at home, this can be found in the instructional videos on our website https://www.martialarts-swindon.co.uk/martial-arts-instructional-videos/
Please note also that we are constantly monitoring the numbers in all classes to ensure that classes sizes are appropriate.
