UNSHAKABLE Confidence!
“I am not discouraged, because every wrong attempt discarded is another step forward.”- Thomas A. Edison
“I have not failed 10,000 times. I have successfully found 10,000 ways that will not work.”- Thomas A. Edison
Hello
Do you know what it means to have UNSHAKABLE Confidence?
These are powerful quotes from someone who saw many inventions into existence. Inventions we all use to this very day!
You can imagine, that would take some STRONG and UNSHAKABLE confidence to invent something that the world has never seen (and also didn’t even think could happen!).

To have a goal, and to make constant mistakes in the process, but STILL keep on looking for the answer takes a lot of confidence.

That’s how we feel here at our Academy and we strive every day to instil that in our students. Not only do we want them to believe they can achieve their goals, but we teach the importance of having goals!

I once read somewhere that “parents are patterns.”
It’s so true. Everything we do, say, feel… Our kids absorb and make their own. That’s why one of the best things we can do for our kids, is resolve our past issues. That way, those issues simply aren’t there for them to absorb. And they won’t have to live with them.
At the same time, if we work on building our strengths, our kids absorb those too.
And they’ll absorb the desire to build their own.
To great success,

This is great...
Many years ago, Theodore Roosevelt said…
“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.”
Thought you might want to pass that along to the family.
Quotes like these can be great for sparking insightful conversation with your kids. You’d be surprised how much wisdom they’ve got bottled up in them 😉
Read it to them, and ask them what they think. Share your own thoughts with them, too.
Have a great one,

2 Fun Creative Outlets for Kids
Hey there,
Here are 2 awesome activities you can try with your kids for a fun time that won’t break the bank.
These activities encourage inspiration, imagination, and intellect.
Plus, they’re a ton of fun 😉
1.Writing
Come up with some cool story ideas for your kids, and then let them have at it.
You can ask them to write a story about the day they brought a unicorn to school… what they would do if they could fly… or if they had another super power.
2. Drawing
What makes a cool story even cooler? Illustrations! You and your child can draw out scenes from their stories, bringing them to life.
Or, you can draw your favourite super heroes, TV stars and more.
Till next time!

A GREAT Workout for Kids.
A GREAT Workout for Kids.
Hey,
While martial arts classes will help your kids get stronger and healthier…
It’s also great for kids to get exercise outside of class.
Now, if your kid is the “outdoors” type who runs around day and night with his friends – You can probably ignore this
But if your child is more of the “indoors” type who doesn’t exercise all that much, this is very relevant.
All you need is a timer, and a bit of room.
The Routine:
– Pushups for 30 seconds
– Crunches for 30 seconds
– Squats for 30 seconds
– Run in place for 30 seconds
Time your child for each exercise,
and run them through this workout
2-3 times.
On days where they don’t have
martial arts, it’ll really help
them keep up their fitness &
health.
Of course, you don’t want to work
kids too hard – but it’s
important for them to get exercise
every day of the week.

Getting Your Kid to Sleep.
Bedtime.
The word itself gives
parents cold sweats and panic
attacks.
Why aren’t kids built with
an option where you snap your
fingers and they’re asleep?
Well, until someone invents
something that makes that
possible… here are 2 great tips
on making bedtime more enjoyable
for everyone:
1. Create a Routine.
Routine is going to be your best
friend when it comes to bed time.
Plan a few activities that happen
every night in preparation for bed
time.
For example, your routine could go:
Bath > Pajamas > Tucking your child
in > Story time
Eventually, with enough repetition,
your child will start to wind down
during bath time.
The other activities will gently
guide them to sleep.
Of course, you’ll have to plan
activities that work for your
child. The simple example above
might work, but you might have to
get creative and work some more
activities in.
I’ve heard of parents who needed a
2-hour routine to get their kids to
sleep! That’s extreme, but you do
what you gotta do, right?
2. Exercise
When your child gets out his energy
during the day, bed time becomes
much, much easier. Sports work for
some kids, but not all of them.
That’s where martial arts comes in!
We’ll help burn off that excess
energy your child has, and we’ll
also teach them more discipline and
respect so they’ll listen better
come bed time, too.

Confidence building through martial arts..
Ollie was a shy child.
When I met him, he was about five years old.
He didn’t talk much, and he couldn’t meet the eye of any adult speaking with him.
You could see he felt awkward around other child and didn’t interact with them well.
He wouldn’t leave his dad’s side as his dad asked me about martial arts lessons for him.
For the first month he even wouldn’t step on the mat with out his Dad being there.
But he was a good learner, seemed to really enjoy the classes, and was a fantastic kicker.
Slowly but surely, he started to open up.
First with the other kids, then later with the adults around him.
The transformation was incredible and importantly it wasn’t only confined to the Academy.
His dad told me Ollie had made new friends at school and his teachers had noticed a significant difference in his attitude at school.
He credited his son’s martial arts training as the cause of this new-found confidence.
This is something I’ve heard from countless parents, and something that I’ve witnessed in our students many times.
Martial arts can have a dramatic effect in developing self confidence, and self esteem.
