Getting Your Kid to Sleep.

Bedtime.
The word itself gives
parents cold sweats and panic
attacks.
Why aren’t kids built with
an option where you snap your
fingers and they’re asleep?
Well, until someone invents
something that makes that
possible… here are 2 great tips
on making bedtime more enjoyable
for everyone:
1. Create a Routine.
Routine is going to be your best
friend when it comes to bed time.
Plan a few activities that happen
every night in preparation for bed
time.
For example, your routine could go:
Bath > Pajamas > Tucking your child
in > Story time
Eventually, with enough repetition,
your child will start to wind down
during bath time.
The other activities will gently
guide them to sleep.
Of course, you’ll have to plan
activities that work for your
child. The simple example above
might work, but you might have to
get creative and work some more
activities in.
I’ve heard of parents who needed a
2-hour routine to get their kids to
sleep! That’s extreme, but you do
what you gotta do, right?
2. Exercise
When your child gets out his energy
during the day, bed time becomes
much, much easier. Sports work for
some kids, but not all of them.
That’s where martial arts comes in!
We’ll help burn off that excess
energy your child has, and we’ll
also teach them more discipline and
respect so they’ll listen better
come bed time, too.

What Excuses Are You Making?

What Excuses Are You Making?

Did you ever wake up having something you know you should do, but you don’t feel like doing it?

Did you ever spend time coming up with an excuse to get out of something you agreed to months earlier?

YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO, YOU JUST HAVE TROUBLE DOING WHAT YOU KNOW.

You know what healthy foods to eat.

You know daily exercise is important.

You know you need 7-8 hours of sleep a night.

You know the difference between a great and average job at work.

You know the right and wrong things to say to your family.

Every day you wake up, you get the opportunity to do the right things.  You get to do something special for yourself or someone else.  You get an opportunity to make yourself better and  someone else happier than before they met you.  But with that opportunity also comes the obstacles of excuses.  In order to do the right things, you are going to have to hurdle some of them everyday.

here are some of the excuses that must be overcome:

  1. I’m Busy.
  2. I’m Tired.
  3. It’s Not My Job.
  4. Who Cares?
  5. It Doesn’t Matter.
  6. It Takes Too Much Time.
  7. It Costs Too Much.
  8. I Can’t Do It.
  9. It’s Impossible.
  10. It Won’t Make A Difference.

The Secret to Every Successful Diet And Fitness Program

YOU HAVE TO SHOW UP!

Today I would like to tell you about one of my students. Michael spent his days driving for work and had gained over 50 pounds.  He knew he was eating the wrong things. He knew exercise was important.  He heard it from both his doctor and his kids.  Notches on his belts his tailor was telling him too. But he said nothing happened until he committed and SHOWED UP the first day.  Many more students shared similar challenges and just the simple action of SHOWING UP wiped the fear away enough to let them get started.

Do any of these make you nervous about starting something new?

  • Fear of Failure
  • Fear of Change
  • Fear of Injury
  • Fear of Rejection
  • Fear of Reality
If you are fearful about starting anything new like a fitness program, career choice, musical instrument or even writing a blog, the secret of SHOWING UP will make those nerves go away. Action is the magical cure to your fears and you don’t need a prescription to get it.  Action is where the fear ends and the excitement begins.  SHOW UP and you can no longer let the first step be what’s holding you back.  SHOW UP and your calling, art, passion becomes more believable.  SHOW UP and your potential will start to come through.

Confidence building through martial arts..‏

Ollie was a shy child.

When I met him, he was about five years old.

He didn’t talk much, and he couldn’t meet the eye of any adult speaking with him.

You could see he felt awkward around other child and didn’t interact with them well.

He wouldn’t leave his dad’s side as his dad asked me about martial arts lessons for him.

For the first month he even wouldn’t step on the mat with out his Dad being there.

But he was a good learner, seemed to really enjoy the classes, and was a fantastic kicker.

Slowly but surely, he started to open up.

First with the other kids, then later with the adults around him.

The transformation was incredible and importantly it wasn’t only confined to the Academy.

His dad told me Ollie had made new friends at school and his teachers had noticed a significant difference in his attitude at school.

He credited his son’s martial arts training as the cause of this new-found confidence.

This is something I’ve heard from countless parents, and something that I’ve witnessed in our students many times.

Martial arts can have a dramatic effect in developing self confidence, and self esteem.
